The Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University (UNDIP) has established a strategic partnership with PT PLN Electricity Services (PLN-ES) in the field of electrical research, specifically to identify alternative solutions for improving the voltage profile of 20 kV medium-voltage power lines.
Discussions regarding the partnership took place on Friday, April 24, 2026. This Discussions collaboration involved faculty members and researchers from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, UNDIP, namely Ir. Mochammad Facta, ST, MT, Ph.D., and Dr. Ir. Abdul Syakur, ST, MT, IPU, along with a team from PT PLN Electricity Services led by Deni Ade Putra, Vice President of Operations. Also present were Mahmud Isworo as the project coordinator, along with several engineers: Unggul, Bachtiar, Luhur, Arif, and Teguh Antoni.
This research collaboration focuses on improving voltage quality in the 20 kV distribution network as a critical component in maintaining the reliability of the power system. Through this collaboration, it is hoped that practical, innovative technical solutions can be developed that align with operational needs in the field.
This research project also involves students as part of the implementation of research-based learning. A total of 19 students participated, consisting of 16 undergraduate students divided into 6 final-year project groups and 3 graduate students in the Electrical Engineering program.
Student involvement in this project provides hands-on experience in solving real-world problems in the industry, while strengthening the synergy between the academic world and the electricity sector.
Through this collaboration, the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, UNDIP, reaffirms its commitment to developing research that has a tangible impact and supports the improvement of the national power system through sustained collaboration with industry.
