The Department of Electrical Engineering held a 2024 Curriculum Review Workshop on April 9, 2026, as a strategic step toward strengthening the alignment of the curriculum with the academic vision of the program. This event was attended by all faculty members of the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Electrical Engineering, featuring the keynote speaker, Prof. Dr.nat.tech. Ir. Siswo Sumardiono, S.T., M.T., who serves as the Academic Director of Diponegoro University.
This workshop is a follow-up to the recommendations from the Academic Vision Workshop held on October 15, 2025. During the workshop, the importance of reviewing and aligning the curriculum to align with the academic development direction of each program was emphasized, as well as the need to address the challenges of industry demands and advancements in modern technology.
The Bachelor’s Program in Electrical Engineering has an academic vision to become a leading Electrical Engineering program in smart and integrated systems engineering, focusing on modern innovative solutions. Meanwhile, the Master’s Program in Electrical Engineering has an academic vision to become a leading program in engineering within the fields of power systems, control, electronic instrumentation, and information technology, oriented toward the development of smart and environmentally friendly technologies, and contributing both nationally and globally.
In his remarks, Prof. Siswo Sumardiono emphasized the importance of a curriculum that is adaptive, responsive to scientific advancements, and focused on graduate learning outcomes. A good curriculum, he noted, must serve as a bridge between academic vision, the needs of the workforce, and tangible contributions to society.
Based on the workshop’s outcomes, several strategic points were successfully formulated. In the Electrical Engineering Undergraduate Program, several courses from various concentrations in the 5th semester were aligned or consolidated to reflect the strengthening of the scientific vision in the 2024 Curriculum. Additionally, course packages for the 6th and 7th semesters were prepared to provide students with opportunities to strengthen their competencies according to their chosen interests and fields of expertise.
These course packages are also designed to serve as a foundation for students’ capstone design projects, ensuring that the learning process is not solely theory-oriented but also focused on solving real-world problems through an integrated engineering approach.
Meanwhile, in the Master’s Program in Electrical Engineering, the workshop resulted in an agreement to align the Semester Learning Plan (SLP) with the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) approach. This step is expected to enhance the quality of outcome-based learning while strengthening academic accountability in the graduate education process.
Through this workshop, the Department of Electrical Engineering demonstrates its commitment to maintaining a higher education system that is relevant, excellent, and globally competitive. The 2024 Curriculum Review is expected to serve as a crucial foundation for producing graduates who are adaptable, innovative, and capable of making tangible contributions to technological advancement and society.
